Melee was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and trained as an actor at both the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and York University. Acting credits include work for Shakespeare in the Ruff, Sudbury Theatre Company, Wordsmyth Theatre, Pleiades Theatre, DVxT and Blood Projects. In the UK The Royal Court, The Royal National Theatre, Nottingham Playhouse, Theatre Royal as well as Popcorn, and Our Country’s Good in London’s West End. Awards include London New Play Festival Best Actor The Citizen’s Theatre Award and Dora nominations for Outstanding Performance as Dimitri in Brother’s Karamazov and Outstanding Direction for Harold Pinter’s The Dumb Waiter. Favourite roles include: Dunyasha in The Cherry Orchard (Welsh National Theatre), Antigone in Creon, Wife/Erotium in The Menaechmus Twins (Stone Circle Project), Monica in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie (Stratford Festival), Catherine in Waiting for the Parade (Georgian Theatre Festival), Hermia in A Midsummer Night's Dream (CanStage), Judith in Judith (Summerworks), Desdemona in The Othello Project (North York Performing Arts Studio), Bianca in Taming of the Shrew (Du Maurier World Stage), the Woman in Death of a Salesman (Theatre Aquarius) and Truvy in Steel Magnolias (Stirling Theatre Festival).

Sarah holds a BFA in Acting from LAMDA and an MFA in Acting from York University. When not acting, she teaches at the Universities of Waterloo and York.
